This lucky bastard worked from Guwahati (Assam) for a month in January, with weekend excursions into Assam and Meghalaya.

- Our Airbnb was really great. Good Internet, quiet neighborhood and affordable. Quite a few (shot) electricity black-outs, but there’s 5G reception.
- Guwahati is a nice middle-sized city. Less chaotic and noisy than cities we previously stayed in to work from for a while (Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad), but still big enough to have way too many restaurants to test out. The cuisine is very varied: from Assamese (great thalis), Tibetan (momo’s), to very decent South Indian (dosa, idly) to great North Indian (curries, tandoor food, etc.).
- Most lively street food place in Guwahati: Street-Za
- Sualkuchi: Assam’s “silk town” with no tourists. Quite an adventure to get there by public transport!
- Kaziranga National park: must be cheapest jeep safari in the world, with lots of one-horned rhino’s. Recommended on days without noisy Indian tourists.
- Shillong: wonderful little city with lots of history and the best and liveliest market in North India. Not too touristy
- Nongriat (near Cherrapunji) root bridges: fascinating, but touristy (Indian tourists). Stay in the jungle there for a night if you go!
