Workation: Kerala ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

We spent part of our winter in Thiruvananthampuram (yes, took us some practice) – the capital of Kerala India.

Workation in Thiruvananthampuram India – the summary:
๐Ÿš South-Indian food paradise- dosa, biryani and many unique Kerala specialties (think spicy & coconut)
๐ŸŒด Coconut trees & rich green nature everywhere
โ˜€๏ธ Tropical heat. January is doable, from February it gets sweaty
๐ŸšŠ Good rapid train connections anywhere. We recommend Kochi
๐Ÿ›ซ No direct flights from Europe, but lots of daily connections via UAE
๐Ÿ•› 4.5 hours ahead of CET time
๐Ÿ›œ Really good Internet & 5G in almost all of Kerala
๐Ÿ”Œ Reasonably stable electricity (our Airbnb room had a battery that kept the Internet and a fan going during blackouts).
๐Ÿ’ถ Very affordable: a room โ‚ฌ500 all-in for a month. Food: โ‚ฌ1 breakfast for 2 on the streets, โ‚ฌ3-4 good dinner for 2 in a basic restaurant.

All in all, it was very pleasant. But less adventurous than any of the places we’ve spent our winter in India before (Assam, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad). It’s “India light” (although you can catch dengue fever here too – like I did).

Do get in touch if you ever travel to Kerala. We have plenty of tips!
